The Grounds of Remembrance in Dublin Veterans Park is used as the ceremonial backdrop for Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances, and other patriotic events.
2017 Memorial Day Parade & Observance
The City of Dublin, in partnership with the Wesley G. Davids Dublin Post 800 of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dublin Post 10691, will host the annual Memorial Day Parade & Observance on Monday, May 29. The day’s events will honor veterans who lost their lives in service to our country.
11 a.m. – Parade in Historic Dublin
From The Shoppes at River Ridge to Dublin Cemetery with wreath throwing ceremony on Bridge Street Bridge
11:30 a.m. – Ceremony
Noon – Commemoration

Lieutenant General Dennis McCarthy, USMC (Ret.) is the featured speaker for the ceremony in the Dublin Cemetery. McCarthy began his Marine Corps service as a platoon leader in Vietnam and completed it as Commander of Marine Forces Reserve. He then served as Executive Director of the Reserve Officers Association of the US before being nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate to be an Assistant Secretary of Defense.
Dr. Chrisanne Gordon will speak during the commemoration in Dublin Veterans Park. As Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services at Memorial Hospital of Union County, her special interest is with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). She founded the Resurrecting Lives Foundation to coordinate and advocate for the successful transition to a post-military career and life for veterans with TBI.
SR 161/Bridge Street will be closed from 10:50 a.m. to noon between Dale Drive and Monterey Drive for the parade. Other roadways that will be affected include High, Blacksmith, Darby, Mill and Franklin Streets. Southbound Riverside Drive will
