Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public to Comment

October 17, 2011 – (DUBLIN, Ohio) – A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive on Saturday, Oct. 29 to examine all aspects of the Dublin Division of Police’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

The Division of Police voluntarily participates in the accreditation process by inviting the assessors to verify that the Division meets the Commission’s rigorous standards.

The assessors will review written materials, interview Division personnel, and visit various locations where compliance can be witnessed. The members of the assessment team are Captain John Foster of the Florissant Police Department in Missouri and Lieutenant Deborah Morgan of the Virginia Tech Police Department.

The 2011 on-site assessment includes an opportunity for agency employees and members of the community to offer comments to the assessors at a public information session to be held on at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 at the Justice Center Courtroom, 6565 Commerce Pkwy.

If for some reason a person cannot speak at the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, there will be an opportunity for the public to call 614.410.4801 from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 to offer input to the assessors.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session will generally be limited to ten (10) minutes and should address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Dublin Division of Police in the reception area. The local contact is Lt. Steve Farmer, Services Bureau Commander and Accreditation Manager for the Dublin Division of Police, at 614.410.4800.
