The Central Ohio Safe Ride program has partnered with the City of Dublin and The Presidents Cup to provide complimentary taxi vouchers to guests who need a safe ride home.
During The Presidents Cup, October 1 – 6, Safe Ride vouchers will be available at The Presidents Cup Fan Experience just outside of Muirfield Village Golf Club, the Captain’s Captains’ Club on the course and participating Dublin restaurants and pubs. Safe Ride vouchers also will be available at Fore!Fest, a street festival in Historic Dublin on Thursday, October 3.
Guests simply need to request a complimentary voucher, worth $10 from beverage servers or safety personnel– no questions asked. Each passenger is entitled to a $10 voucher so, for example, three passengers in a Safe Ride taxi would have $30 in vouchers toward their ride home.
Phone numbers of participating taxi companies are listed on the vouchers. As an added convenience, taxi cabs will be staged in a designated lot off of Muirfield Drive near Crossgate Drive during The Presidents Cup. At Fore!Fest cabs will be staged at Bridge Street and Monterey Drive. Participating taxi companies are Yellow Cab of Columbus, German Village Taxi and Shamrock Taxi. Other cabs may be in the area, but they are not Safe Ride participants.
The Safe Ride concept is simple: prevent impaired driving and promote responsible serving in Central Ohio. Franklin County Safe Communities, the city of Dublin, and The Presidents Cup encourage everyone to be safe and not drink and drive. Enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for great golf and grab a safe ride home. For more information about the Central Ohio Safe Ride Program visit http://www.centralohiosaferide.com.
About The Presidents Cup
The Presidents Cup, a team, match-play competition featuring 24 of the world’s top golfers – 12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe – is held every two years, and since 1996 has alternated between United States and international venues. The Presidents Cup was developed to give the world’s best non-European players an opportunity to compete in international team match-play competition. The U.S. Team has won seven of the nine previous Presidents Cups, and the only win by the International Team came at the 1998 event in Melbourne. The Presidents Cup 2003 ended in a tie. Fred Couples is returning as U.S. Team captain in 2013, and fellow World Golf Hall of Fame member Nick Price will lead the International Team.
The Presidents Cup is a unique golf event in that there is no purse or prize money. Players are not paid for their participation, but each competitor allocates an equal portion of the funds generated to charities of his choice. Since the event’s inception, more than $27 million has been raised for charity from event proceeds, as well as contributions made on behalf of The Presidents Cup, including a record charitable donation of $4.5 million from the 2011 event alone.
Citi and Rolex are the exclusive Global Partners of The Presidents Cup.
