(DUBLIN, Ohio) – Dublin City Manager Marsha Grigsby has appointed Tim Wagner as the City’s Human Resources Director.
Wagner had been the Deputy Director of Human Resources for Ohio Job and Family Services since January, 2012. Prior to that, he served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Columbus State Community College from June 2000 to January 2012; Chief of Human Resources at the Ohio Department of Mental Health from June 1993 to June 2000 and Chief of Dispute Resolution/Arbitration at the State Office of Collective Bargaining from May 1987 to June 1993.
Wagner offers more than 15 years of senior level Human Resources experience that includes talent development, wellness benefits management and collective bargaining administration. As a member of the President’s Cabinet at Columbus State, Wagner also was involved in strategic planning and issues management.
“Tim brings a wealth of Human Resources experience from the public sector,” said Grigsby. “His experience with professional staff development and customer service align with City Council’s goals as well as our strategic focus areas.”
Wagner’s salary with the City will be $106,000.
The Director of Human Resources is a member of the City Manager’s senior management team and provides advice and counsel in all functional areas of Human Resources Management. The City of Dublin has 20 departments and divisions comprised of 369 full-time permanent positions and 750 part-time, temporary and seasonal positions.
The City of Dublin’s Human Resources Department has a 2012 General Fund Operating Budget of $1.56 million. In addition, Human Resources administers a Self-Insured Health Insurance Benefits Fund of $5.3 million and a Self-Insured Workers’ Compensation Fund of $327,000.
Major projects include the organization-wide professional development, Healthy by Choice Plus – an employee health management program, labor contract negotiations, customer service initiative and market compensation analysis. Other areas of responsibility include occupational safety and health administration, insurance and risk management and volunteer resources.
Wagner received a Masters Degree in Labor and Human Resources from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Afro American Studies from Ohio University.
He serves on the Columbus Area Labor-Management Association, the Pickerington Personnel Appeals Board and is a past member of the Breathing Association Board of Trustees.
Dublin’s Human Resources Director Dave Harding is retiring on December 14, 2012 after serving the City of Dublin for nearly 27 years.
