(DUBLIN, Ohio) – The City of Dublin is taking measures to ensure the safety and security of guests at its annual Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4. Guests are not permitted to bring alcohol, pets, weapons (including knives), or fireworks of any kind, including those that are legal in the State of Ohio such as sparklers are not permitted inside Dublin Coffman High School Stadium. Guests are permitted to enter the high school grounds with food and non-alcoholic beverages. Security personnel will be on-site searching bags, baskets, coolers, etc. at both entrances to the stadium. No one will be admitted before 4:30 p.m.
“As we celebrate our nation’s freedom, our first priority is to ensure the highest level of safety for our guests, entertainers and staff,” Police Lieutenant Steve Farmer said.
Guests must take extra care on the football field due to the synthetic turf. No chewing gum, confetti, candles, sparklers or open flames of any type will be permitted and smoking is not allowed anywhere on school property. To help protect the school practice fields, please do not place any plastic tarps on the grass to reserve your space. In addition, fences will be erected as a safety measure around the fireworks launch site to keep people out of the safety zone.
Residents are advised to respect the warnings; it is extremely dangerous and prohibited to enter the safety zone at any time.
Overseeing the day-long festivities are Mike and Chris Close who have been selected as 2013 Grand Marshals. The morning festivities include the 23rd Annual Sherm Sheldon Fishing Derby and the Independence Day Parade at 11 a.m. The gates at Coffman High School Stadium open at 4:30 p.m for the evening celebration. No early entry is permitted. The evening celebration kicks off at 5 p.m. with the Skyhoundz Hyperflite Canine Frisbee Disc Championship followed by kids activities, food vendors and entertainment headlined by Chicago. A spectacular fireworks display will conclude the festivities and be simulcast on Sunny 95 at 9:50 p.m.
