(Dublin, OH) – Dublin City Council unanimously selected current Development Director Dana McDaniel as Dublin’s new City Manager.
Dublin City Council held a special meeting on Sunday, December 7 and convened into executive session for personnel matters. After interviewing McDaniel, Council reconvened and directed Administrative Chair and Vice Mayor Rick Gerber to begin negotiations with McDaniel. Council also directed the City Administration to prepare legislation for the January 5 Council meeting to officially name McDaniel as Dublin’s fifth City Manager.
City Council conducted a national search with Ralph Andersen & Associates and recently interviewed two other candidates.
“We have always been keenly aware of Dana’s contributions to our community,” said Gerber. “It’s good practice to conduct a national search, especially since Dublin is an internationally recognized and respected community. What we learned and confirmed is that Dana is the clear choice to be our next City Manager.”
City Council began the search process shortly after current City Manager Marsha Grigsby announced her retirement, effective January 30, 2015, after more than 25 years of public service with the City of Dublin. Previous City Managers include Tim Hansley 1987 – 2001; Jane Brautigam 2002-2008; Terry Foegler 2009 –2010 and Grigsby 2010 – 2015. Grigsby also served as interim City Manager on several occasions.
“We are elated that Dana has chosen to be our next administrative leader,” said Gerber. “He is the right person, the right leader at the right time. Dublin is on the cusp of transformational change and Dana’s institutional knowledge and deep-rooted understanding of Council’s vision was significant in our decision.”
“Dana has held many leadership positions with the City of Dublin during his 26 year tenure. Public services and economic development are two of our hallmarks – and much of that is due to Dana’s tenacity, leadership, intelligent approach and customer service standards,” said Keenan. “We are immensely grateful to Dana for his service thus far and look forward to working with him in the coming years.”
“I appreciate the opportunity to be Dublin’s next City Manager. It has been an honor to serve our community for 26 years. I’m fortunate to stand on the shoulders of those who came before me and alongside of an experienced and solid staff of professionals. Together, we will work in partnership with Dublin City Council to serve the citizens of Dublin and our dynamic business community,” said McDaniel.
McDaniel’s salary and compensation package are under negotiations. His first day is expected to be Saturday, January 31, 2015.
