Council will be on recess through the month of July. The next regular Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 12, 2013.
AMENDING THE DUBLIN COMMUNITY PLAN: City Council approved an ordinance to amend the 2007 Dublin Community Plan, which includes updates to major planning initiatives, and changes that have occurred in the past five years, including the Bridge Street District and West Innovation District. For the first time, the Community Plan has been presented as a fully interactive website to enhance public access and allow for future amendments to be efficiently incorporated and communicated.
BRIDGE STREET DISTRICT PLANS MOVE FORWARD: City Council approved two ordinances relating to the Bridge Street District redevelopment plans. Council approved water line easements and a preliminary plan to create street rights-of-way in the Dublin Village Center, the site of the proposed Edwards multi-family community and future redevelopment. Council will convene for a second hearing on August 12 for the authorization of additional agreements required for this project to move forward.
MORE JOBS IN DUBLIN: City council reviewed economic development incentives for two companies expected to provide 50 new full-time jobs in the City. Navidea Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. plans to retain 40 full-time jobs and create 20 new full-time jobs through the expansion of its Dublin headquarters. Persistent Systems, Inc., based in India, plans to lease office space in the City and hire 30 IT positions by the end of the year. Council will vote on both economic development agreements at the August 12 Council meeting. More details in news release.
