The Dublin Police Department has concluded its investigation into a fatal tanker crash that happened Monday, January 23, 2017. The cause of the crash remains undetermined. Toxicology results showed no sign of alcohol or drug impairment.
With assistance from the Columbus Police Crime Lab, investigators identified the victim as Duane Brodman, 58, of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Brodman was travelling on the ramp from U.S. 33 east to I-270 north when the tanker carrying 8,000 gallons of gasoline went off the right side of the roadway. It appears Brodman then steered to the left, causing the tanker to roll over.
Investigators reviewed numerous videos and photos from security video systems and social media. The videos showed the aftermath, but none showed the actual crash. The full reconstruction report is available here.
