Blasting begins Monday, February 17 – Will Impact Traffic on Riverside Drive
Dublin, OH – The City of Dublin has begun construction on the final phase of Emerald Parkway. Beginning Monday, February 17, 2014, the City’s contractors will begin a four to six week bedrock blasting project along Emerald Parkway. The drilling and blasting will start near the Riverside Drive/Emerald Parkway intersection, on the east side of the intersection, and north of the I-270 bridge area.
Blasting is scheduled to occur around 12 noon and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, February 17.
Traffic on Riverside Drive/Emerald Parkway intersection will be stopped each time a blast occurs, which is about twice a day. The City’s Engineers expect traffic will be stopped the entire week of February 17, 2014 during each blast period. As the blasting moves farther away and east of the intersection, it will not be necessary to stop traffic at the intersection. The City will provide updated information on the project through social media and the City’s website: www.DublinOhioUSA.gov.
Dublin Police will be stopping traffic on Riverside Drive and Emerald Parkway bridge about three minutes before each blast. No traffic will be allowed to move through the Riverside Drive/Emerald Parkway intersection until the bull horn siren signals an “all clear” to resume traffic.
Traffic will not be affected on I-270 during the blasting.
This last phase of Emerald Parkway will open up nearly 115 acres of land for commercial development with I-270 visibility and Sawmill Road interchange access. It will also provide increased mobility from Sawmill Road to Tuttle Crossing for the many residents, businesses and employees in and around Dublin.
