(Dublin OH) – As part of the restoration of Field of Corn (with Osage Orange Trees), the 109 human-size ears of corn will be wrapped in plastic in order to protect the concrete from the elements during the curing process. This is part of a year-long restoration and is expected to begin Oct. 4 and last three weeks. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
Restoration to the white architectural precast concrete was necessary due to natural wear and tear and had been anticipated as part of a scheduled maintenance plan, said Sara Ott, senior project manager for the City of Dublin.
Field of Corn, located in Sam and Eulalia Frantz Park at 4995 Rings Road, is an installation in the City of Dublin and Dublin Arts Council’s renowned Art in Public Places program. Artist Malcolm Cochran completed the commission in 1994.
