(DUBLIN, Ohio) – The missing golf ball sculpture that featured the Memorial Tournament sponsored by Nationwide Insurance was returned today. The ball was discovered late Saturday morning along the 8200 block of Dublin Road, though the sculpture had been damaged.
The ball and its base were discovered missing Monday morning. The art work is worth about $2,500, meaning the theft constituted a felony crime. On Wednesday, City officials offered immunity if the ball was returned by midnight today.
Community Relations Director Sandra Puskarcik said city officials are pleased the ball has been returned by the deadline, but note that the crime has come at a cost; the City will pay to have the ball repaired.
“This public art project was created for Dublin and the world to enjoy. This type of further action will not be tolerated,” Puskarcik said.
