(DUBLIN, Ohio) – The Dublin Division of Police will host the annual Police Memorial Service at the Dublin Justice Center, 6565 Commerce Parkway, on Friday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. The public is invited to this event.
The 2013 Police Memorial will feature guest speaker Kim Brown. Brown is the sister of Franklin County Deputy Sheriff Marty Martin, who was killed in the line of duty on September 6, 2008. Deputy Martin’s memorial is posted online at: http://www.odmp.org/officer/19545-deputy-sheriff-marty-michael-martin
As a part of the ceremony, the names of local area officers killed in the line of duty are read in honor of their ultimate sacrifice and service to their communities. The names of these great men and women are etched in the Memorial Arch which is passed under before entering the Dublin Justice Center, forever honoring our fallen heroes.
“We believe it is important for members of our profession and the community to honor the personal sacrifices these officers have made,” said Chief of Police Heinz von Eckartsberg.
The service is held in recognition of National Police Memorial Week, which falls during the week of May 12-18, 2013. This designation was established in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation dedicating one week to law enforcement officers.
