On March 9, 2017, Dublin Police responded to a report of a suspicious person at Deer Run Elementary School, located at 8815 Avery Road, leading to a brief lockdown at the school.
School personnel alerted the School Resource Officer to an individual on school property who was asked to leave, but then returned. When the officer approached the 18-year-old man, he would not immediately leave the area. There was a struggle, which ended with the officer using a Taser to subdue the subject. The officer sustained minor injuries during the altercation, but is okay.
The individual was detained and evaluated by medics, which is protocol for any Taser deployment. Police released him into the custody of his parents.
After thoroughly investigating, Police determined the incident was a misunderstanding and did not file criminal charges. Click here to read the report.
