This database is linked to all 88 of Ohio’s sheriff’s offices and all 32 correctional facility records offices operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. The purpose of eSORN is to provide one location for all of Ohio’s law enforcement officials to freely share information on registered sex offenders. Some portions of this database are also open to private citizens who want to be aware of sex offenders who live close to their home or their child’s school.

VINE is a fully automated program that is used to notify all registered users as to when an offender’s status is changed. VINE can be used to inform those registered by telephone, email, or pager. VINE helps by relaying an offender’s sentence expiration date, inmate custody status and location, as well as notifications on the transfer, release, escape, or death of an inmate. All telephone calls and registrations are anonymous, confidential, and free.
