Aneco-friendlyCitywithagrowingnetworkof parks, open space, bikepaths andoutdoor amenities, Dublin just keeps
gettinggreener. TheCityconsistently takes steps tobebetter stewardsof theenvironment, ensuring its vitality for
generations tocome.
In2014, Dublincelebrated its
26thyearasaTreeCity,USA
. Theaward isbasedon four quali cations: havinga
treeboardor department, a tree-careordinance, anannual community forestrybudget of at least $2per capitaanda
proclamation.
Parks andOpenSpacecompleted the rst phaseof the
CoffmanParkexpansion
,which includedutilityburial and
theadditionof twopermanent pedestrianbridges andnewmulti-usepaths. Planswerealso nalized for thenext
phaseof theexpansion,whichwill includeanew skateparkandopenathleticcourtsnear the JusticeCenter.
TheCityalso improved river andwoods access at
AmberleighCommunityPark
, addinga river overlookand
river access stairswithacanoe/kayak rail. Anagreementwas nalizedwithWashingtonTownship to transition the
programmingof
KaltenbachPark
,whichwill becomeDublin’s 60thpark in spring2015. Planningalsoadvanced for
newparklandalong theSciotoRiver in theBridgeStreetDistrict.
It’snot just greener outdoors inDublin, theCityworked inpartnershipwith twoDublin-basedcompanies – IGSEnergy
andHull &Associates – to install acombinedheat andpower systemat theDublinCommunityRecreationCenter. Itwill
provideup to60percent of thecenter’s total electricity requirements, utilizingclean-burningnatural gasor fuel. This
forward-thinking initiativewill increasee ciencyand reducecosts for years tocome.
