RiversideDriveRealignment&Roundabout
TheCity nalizedplans tomove forwardwith theRiversideDrive realignment,
whichwillmakeway for the transformationof the keynorth-south roadway
along theSciotoRiver.
The improvements include shifting the roadway250 feet to theeast and
transforming it intoa four-lanedivided roadwaybetweenTuller RoadandS.R.
161.
This relocationwill openuppark spacealong theeast sideof the river andhelp
sparkdevelopment on theeast sideof the road.
The redesigned roadwaywill improve safety, eliminateabrupt lane shifts,
improve the owof tra cand t theoverall BridgeStreetDistrict vision, using
highqualitymaterials suchasgranitecurbs andbrickpavers.
Thenew stretchof roadwill bepedestrianandbicycle friendly, featuringa
pedestrianunderpass anda shared-usepathalong the southboundbypass lane
at S.R. 161.
The realignment of RiversideDrivewill blend into thenew roundabout at
RiversideDriveandS.R. 161. CityCouncil approvedacomprehensive tra c
maintenanceplan,whichwillmaintain tra c inall four directions for the
durationof construction. The roundaboutwill improveoperational e ciency
and safety.
This intersection is the thirdhighest crasharea in theCity. After extensive studyandanalysisof alternatives, theCity
determineda roundabout is thepreferred solution tomanage long-term tra cat thisprominent gateway through theCity
ofDublin. This improvementwill alsoallow the reinstatement of left turns fromS.R. 161ontoRiversideDrive.
