The City of Dublin and many other Central Ohio municipalities follow the recommended date set by the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC). For several years, local governments have supported a suggested, unified trick-or-treat date for the region. When Halloween, Oct. 31, falls on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, Trick or Treat is held the Thursday prior to Oct. 31. When Oct. 31 falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, Trick or Treat is held on Oct. 31.
The MORPC algorithm was developed to provide the most convenient date for families with safety at the forefront. Friday night football games, Saturday football games and Sunday church services have been noted as well.
In the event of inclement weather, the recommended date will not change. Parents/guardians are encouraged to exercise good judgment in allowing children to participate.
MORPC is a proponent of pedestrian safety and continues to work with the central Ohio communities to promote the importance of safety during Trick or Treat – rain or shine.
Go Green for Halloween
The City of Dublin is committed to becoming the most sustainable global city of choice. Make your spooky season celebrations more eco-friendly with these simple and effective tips.
Properly Dispose of Leftover Candy – Drop your leftover or unwanted candy off at the Dublin Food Pantry donation box inside the Dublin Community Recreation Center, or take it directly to the Food Pantry, located at 6608 Dublin Center Dr.
Good news! Candy wrappers ARE accepted in Hefty ReNew bags. Toss your empty candy wrappers in an orange bag for a more eco-friendly way to enjoy treats. To learn more about Hefty ReNew bags and accepted items, visit hefty.com/hefty-renew.
Compost Your Pumpkins – Toss your pumpkins at the Service Center. Pumpkins will be accepted for composting drop-off Oct. 20 to Dec. 12 at the Dublin Service Center, located at 6555 Shier Rings Rd.
Host a Sustainable Event – Swap single-use products for reusable party supplies and help keep recyclables out of the landfill. Consider reusable dishes from home. If reusable isn’t an option, use the Hefty ReNew program to dispose of these hard-to-recycle items.
Set recycling bins at a convenient location with a printout of acceptable materials to help guests sort waste at the source.
Save More Than Food – Plan meals to avoid overspending and excessive leftovers. Use SWACO’s Guest-Imator tool to calculate how much food is needed. Offer reusable to-go containers or compost leftovers at the City of Dublin’s free and convenient compost drop-off location.
In order to support faster response and better tracking of requests, the City of Dublin uses JustFOIA to collect, respond to and manage public information requests.
JustFOIA is a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) online application that helps streamline the open records request process for the community and improve efficiencies in getting requested information quickly and accurately.
The application lets community members submit requests for all city records, including police reports. Commonly requested information includes accident reports, copies of resolutions and body-camera video.
