Dublin Ohio Passenger Rail

Dublin is Ready for Rail

The City is chugging through a 17-month study to develop a vision plan for the placement of the West Dublin Passenger Rail Station, a state-of-the-art, multi-modal passenger rail station located on a 237-acre site area. This plan will assess land use and transportation impacts in the periphery of west Dublin.

Passenger Rail Benefits

All aboard! The passenger rail will serve as the backbone of a regional and inter-city, multi-modal public transit network that will provide employers access to a wider, more diverse labor pool, offer employees increased access to jobs and housing options with decreased commuting costs.

Dublin’s Passenger Rail Station Study

On the Right Track

  • U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has selected four key routes in Ohio as priorities for Amtrak expansion. As part of the expansion, the FRA will provide $500,000 in planning funds for the Midwest Connect corridor from Chicago to Pittsburgh.
  • MORPC and local partners, including City of Dublin, are exploring ways to provide new intercity transportation for Central Ohio.
  • Studies at the state and regional level recommended that a rail station location study be conducted to identify suitable and feasible locations for state-of-the-art, multi-modal rail stations adjacent to the existing freight railroad right-of-way.
  • This study will ensure that a rail station located in Dublin is identified and included in the regional planning studies and discussions.

What is Passenger Rail? Rail service that operates primarily on freight rail tracks and provides longer-distance intercity connections.
