City of Dublin: Slow Down Dublin

The Silver Circle award recognized the City’s communications plan for Slow Down Dublin, a community partnership that strives to create safe and comfortable streets for all residents and road users across Dublin.

The multifaceted campaign incorporates a tool kit for residents to use bumper magnets, stickers and yard signs to raise awareness. In addition to these community efforts, City staff also incorporate a social media campaign that features the “Slow Down Soth” costume character in videos, the new tactical urbanism pilot project, targeted speed enforcement areas, speed warning cameras and so much more.

Since the campaign’s launch, several local media have featured the movement. As for the toolkit more than 700 magnets, 650 vinyl stickers and 200 yard signs have been distributed to interested residents. The City’s robust social media campaign has included 45 posts, which have garnered a combined reach of more than 193,000 and 3,300 engagements.

“Receiving these awards from our peers in government communications is both humbling and motivating,” says Director of Communications & Marketing Lindsay Weisenauer. “It reinforces our commitment to providing residents, businesses and visitors the tools and information they need to stay informed, engaged and proud of their exceptional community.”
