(Dublin, Ohio) — The City of Dublin, in cooperation with private, public and nonprofit community organizations, has launched the Dublin Wellness Alliance (DWA). This collaborative effort aims to address the priorities identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Strategic Action Plan, which was adopted by Dublin City Council in March 2025. Building on Dublin’s strong health outcomes, which consistently outperform state and national averages, the DWA will work to strengthen community well-being through education, resources, access and connections.
“Dublin is already one of the healthiest communities in Ohio, but we know we can go even further,” City Manager Megan O’Callaghan says. “The Dublin Wellness Alliance brings together our partners and residents to ensure our community continues to be a model of health, wellness and resilience.”
The CHNA, presented to Dublin City Council in 2024, revealed that Dublin residents are healthier than many of their peers across Ohio and the nation. Dublin’s obesity rate is 16%, which is less than half the state average of 38% and better than the federal Healthy People 2030 target of 36%. Only 9% of Dublin adults rated their health as fair or poor, compared to significantly higher rates statewide. The assessment also found that chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, asthma and heart disease, occur at much lower rates in Dublin than in Ohio overall.
While the findings were positive, the assessment also identified four priority areas for focused attention: Community Connections, Youth Behavioral Health, Healthcare Navigation and Transportation. The Strategic Action Plan outlines objectives in each of these areas, and the DWA was established to drive forward campaigns and initiatives that address them.
The DWA encompasses organizations, advisory committee members and work groups engaged in carrying out the Strategic Action Plan. A new website, DublinWellnessAlliance.org, serves as the hub for resources, updates and opportunities for residents to get involved.
For the past several months, work groups composed of community partners and volunteers have been advancing action steps outlined in the plan, with metrics in place to measure impact and guide future improvements. The DWA will continue to grow and evolve, welcoming new members and organizations committed to advancing Dublin’s health priorities.
Dublin City Council appointed Council Member Andy Keeler as liaison to the alliance, ensuring a strong connection between City leadership and community partners. Keeler’s role as the Dublin City Schools Board of Education liaison and his professional experience related to connecting clients to health care resources make him a natural fit for this role.
