The Dublin Police Department and the Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center (NRECC) have once again earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), widely recognized as the “gold standard in public safety.”
The designation follows an extensive, multi-day review of policies, procedures and operations to ensure both agencies meet CALEA’s rigorous requirements. The process evaluates key areas such as training, communications, leadership and accountability practices, all aimed at supporting consistent, high-quality public safety services.
“This recognition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of service to the Dublin community,” said Dublin Police Chief Justin Páez. “CALEA accreditation holds us to rigorous standards and reinforces our focus on accountability, transparency and continuous improvement.”
CALEA accreditation is awarded to agencies that meet hundreds of nationally recognized benchmarks and demonstrate a sustained commitment to professional excellence and continuous improvement.
“Achieving reaccreditation is a testament to the hard work of our entire team,” said Dublin Police Professional Standards Manager Whitney Aebker. “From officers to communications professionals, everyone plays a role in maintaining the high standards that help keep our community safe.”
The Dublin Police Department has maintained CALEA accreditation since 1990, with this recognition marking its 11th assessment. NRECC, which provides emergency communications services for the region, first earned accreditation in 2018, making this its third.
What this means for the community
For residents, this recognition means Dublin’s police and emergency communications professionals continue to operate under nationally recognized best practices—ensuring reliable, consistent and high-quality service when it matters most. The accreditation process emphasizes accountability, transparency and ongoing improvement, reinforcing the City’s commitment to public safety.
