Citizen U Jumpstart Returns to Inspire Dublin’s Next Generation of Leaders

DUBLIN, Ohio — The City of Dublin is now accepting applications for Citizen U Jumpstart, an interactive summer program designed to give high school students a behind-the-scenes look at local government and inspire the next generation of community leaders.

Open to incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors for the 2026-2027 school year who live in the City of Dublin or attend Dublin City Schools, Citizen U Jumpstart runs June 22-26, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

Unlike a traditional lecture series, Citizen U Jumpstart offers a hands-on, action-packed experience where students explore the people, projects and innovation that keep Dublin exceptional. Participants will connect with City leaders, planners, engineers and public service professionals while gaining insight into cutting-edge technology, community planning and the operations behind world-class City services. The weeklong program is designed to spark curiosity, strengthen civic knowledge and encourage future leadership, career exploration and community involvement.

“This civic engagement program gives students the opportunity to see their city in a completely new way,” said City of Dublin Volunteer Coordinator Shannon Maurer. “Citizen U Jumpstart empowers teens to explore how local government impacts their daily lives while learning about career pathways and helping them build leadership skills and meaningful community connections.”

Participants must commit to attending all sessions during the weeklong program. A mandatory group interview will take place June 17.

Applications are open May 14-June 12. Interested students can apply at bit.ly/CitizenUJumpstart
