Regional Case Highlights Dublin’s Community Policing & Partnerships in Action

Dublin, Ohio — A parent’s concern about a vape pen in school has brought into focus the real impact of community policing, early intervention and regional partnerships; three key priorities of the Dublin Police Department.

More than two years ago, that concern was shared with a Central Ohio middle school School Resource Officer (SRO). What appeared to be a routine conversation became an early lead in a much larger regional investigation. While the initial tip was critical, investigations of this scale rely on collaboration that must be intentionally built, maintained and shared across agencies.

Those efforts culminated on April 15, 2026, when the Delaware County Drug Task Force executed eight search warrants across Central Ohio, including one at a residence in Dublin. In all, investigators seized nearly $2 million in illegal drugs, including marijuana, THC edibles and concentrates, vape pens and psilocybin mushrooms, as well as firearms and $400,000 cash.

For Dublin, this case reinforces the importance of proactive community policing.

“This investigation highlights how a concern identified in a school can grow into a larger effort that impacts the safety of our entire region,” said Lt. Jake Stoll with the Dublin Police Department. “It underscores the importance of strong relationships between our officers, our schools and our community.”

Ahead of the operation, the Dublin Police Community Impact Unit worked closely with the teams in Delaware County, assisting with surveillance, perimeter security and on‑site support. Along with local law enforcement agencies, the case involved SWAT teams, state partners and federal investigators.

“This case is a strong example of what can be accomplished when agencies work together toward a common goal,” Stoll said. “Through these partnerships, we are able to address complex issues like drug trafficking more effectively and make a meaningful impact on public safety.”

Much of the drug packaging was designed to resemble candy, using bright colors and cartoon characters to appeal to young buyers. Officials also note that many of the products seized are often a gateway to more serious addiction, especially among youth.

These findings mirror concerns Dublin Police regularly hear from residents. Through community engagement efforts such as our School Resource Officer program, HOA and community meetings and regional partnerships, officers frequently hear about vaping, THC products and youth drug use.

“This investigation reflects how community input is taken seriously and acted upon,” adds Stoll.

Dublin Police say this case serves as a clear example of how community policing, built on trust, communication and collaboration, can lead to meaningful results that protect residents and strengthen public safety well beyond our City limits.
