Ever wondered what happens after someone calls 9-1-1? The City of Dublin is inviting the community to find out through Public Safety U, a new interactive program designed to give participants an inside look at how police, fire, EMS and dispatch teams work together to protect our City.
The 10-week program brings together experts from the Dublin Police Department, Washington Township Fire Department and the Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center (NRECC) for immersive classroom sessions and hands-on demonstrations. Participants will explore real-world emergency response, investigations, specialty units, mental health response and more.
“Public Safety U gives residents a front-row seat to the teamwork, preparation and decision-making that happens every day behind the scenes,” said Dublin Police Lt. Jake Stoll. “This is an opportunity to strengthen community connections while building a deeper understanding of public safety operations in Dublin.”
Applications opened May 1, with classes scheduled Thursdays from Aug. 27 through Nov. 5. This opportunity is open to the general public. Participants must be at least 18 years old and complete a background check prior to acceptance.
The City also released a new promotional video highlighting the unique experiences participants can expect throughout the program, including dispatch simulations, police specialty operations and fire/EMS response training.
Public Safety U reflects Dublin’s ongoing commitment to transparency, education and community partnership. The program also serves as a pathway into the City’s Community Safety Ambassador Program and WTFD’s volunteer firefighting program, where graduates can continue supporting public safety outreach efforts.
