Abbey Theater of Dublin Named Favorite Local Theatre for a Third Year

(Dublin, Ohio) — Three’s the magic number in Dublin as the City is proud to share that the Abbey Theater of Dublin recently won eight 2024 BroadwayWorld Columbus Awards, including Best Direction of a Musical and Favorite Local Theatre for the third year.

The theater’s production of ‘American Idiot’ was the winning ticket to the previously mentioned Best Direction of a Musical; this is the theater’s fourth year of winning in this category, with Abbey Theater Supervisor Joe Bishara and Markovich McMahon taking home the gold. ‘American Idiot’ also brought home the titles of Best Musical, Best Sound Design of a Play or Musical and Best Scenic Design of a Play or Musical.

‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, a co-production with Evolution Theatre Company, won Best Costume Design of a Play or Musical and Best Supporting Performer in a Musical, which also went to Joe Bishara.

“The Abbey Theater of Dublin is making its mark with our pre-professional productions and collaborations with resident theater groups,” says Abbey Theater Supervisor Joe Bishara. “We are humbled by the support and recognition from our patrons and the BroadwayWorld Columbus Theatre community.”
