Avery Road/Rings Road/Cara Road Roundabout

The City of Dublin is committed to delivering world class, innovative and efficient services to residents that make Dublin the most desirable and sustainable community. Several improvements are planned for the area of Avery Road/Rings Road/Cara Road, including a roundabout. These improvements are intended to improve safety for the traveling public and provide needed city utility services to Dublin homes and residents.

The project includes:

  • Relocation of existing private utilities in conflict with new roadway infrastructure
  • Construction of new gravity sanitary sewer mains and manholes
  • Installation of new stormwater facilities including mainlines, structures and retention pond
  • Installation of new watermains and hydrants
  • Modification and relocation of existing water system components
  • Installation of new sidewalk and shared use path facilities including a pedestrian bridge
  • Removal of existing roadway and components as needed for new roadway construction
  • Construction of new roundabout at Avery/Rings/Cara Roadway intersection
  • Completion of items outside the roadway such as street lighting, traffic signage, final grading and site restoration

Traffic Impacts and Construction Phasing

There are four major phases of construction for this project with anticipated traffic impacts:

  1. Begin sanitary and storm sewer construction. Place pedestrian bridge abutments.
    • Five-day full road closure of Rings Road between Avery Road and Norn Street, Feb. 10-14. Detour route will be utilized.
  2. Install stormwater and water system components. Complete installation of 60% of the roundabout on the west side of Avery Road to intermediate asphalt.
    • Rings Road, west of Avery Road, closure for 135 days as planned with detour. Dates to be announced.
    • Access maintained to homes and Ted Kaltenbach Park
  3. Completion of east side roundabout, Cara Road and Cara Court work.
    • Rings Road and Avery Road closure for 45 days. Dates to be announced.
    • Access maintained to homes and Ted Kaltenbach Park
  4. Complete Avery Road
    • Traffic shifted to new alignment. Roundabout used for traffic control.

Work Status:

  • Construction begins the week of Feb. 10

Traffic Impact:

  • Rings Road, between Avery Road and Norn Street, will be closed from Feb. 10 to 14. Detours will be posted, and a map will also be available.

Completion Date:

  • October 2025
