Dublin Police Detective Sergeant Jacob Williams received a 2026 Law Enforcement Award after three years of dedicated investigative work helped secure justice for a juvenile survivor of sexual assault.
Williams was honored October 2, 2026 by the Union County Prosecutor during Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, an annual event recognizing local law enforcement officers who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The recognition follows a complex investigation that spanned approximately three years, from the initial report in 2022 through sentencing. Williams’ thorough investigative work, persistence and dedication helped ensure the survivor’s voice remained central throughout the process and contributed to a successful prosecution.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition for such an important case,” Det. Sgt. Williams said. “The pursuit of justice was truly a team effort, involving the Dublin Police Department, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the survivor’s family and friends and, most importantly, the survivor herself. I remain in awe of the strength and courage she demonstrated throughout this difficult process. She is an inspiration to me, and I hope her strength is an inspiration to other survivors.”
The defendant, Sai Praveen Lingam, was convicted of multiple felony offenses and sentenced to 25 to 27½ years in prison.
Congratulations to Det. Sgt. Williams on this well-deserved recognition and his continued commitment to serving victims and pursuing justice.
