Dublin Police Investigate Fatal Vehicle Crash on West Bridge Street

(Dublin, Ohio) — Dublin Police officers are investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened near West Bridge and High Streets in Historic Dublin involving two vehicles at 2:56 a.m. June 21.

Kirk Douglas Barton, 40, from Lewis Center, is suspected of driving a Ford F150 Raptor pickup truck at a high rate of speed eastbound on U.S. 33/S.R. 161 before he entered Historic Dublin and hit a Lexus on West Bridge Street, just west of Franklin Street. Dublin Police’s initial investigation indicates the driver of the Lexus, Ethan Wence Perry, 24, was traveling eastbound on West Bridge Street; he died on the scene.

Barton sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was later released from Riverside Methodist Hospital into Dublin Police custody. Police intend to charge Barton on one count of aggravated vehicular homicide, and he will be transported to Franklin County Jail.

The crash shut down West Bridge Street and North High Street in both directions. The S.R. 161/Riverside Drive roundabout was also closed westbound. Roadways reopened to traffic at 10:15 a.m.
