This project will add approximately 1,000 feet of sidewalk in two locations along the east side of Avery Road. This project has been contracted to J & J Schlaegel, Inc.
The first section will extend approximately 600 feet from Tara Hill Drive to the existing sidewalk near 7136 Avery Road. The second section will extend approximately 400 feet from the existing path south of 7400 Avery Road to the existing sidewalk across from the Avery Park south drive access.
The project also includes associated Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps, drainage improvements and sanitary sewer work to complete Utility Extension Area 14B.
This work represents Phases 2 and 3 of the Avery Road Sidewalk Connections program, as identified in the City’s 2026-2030 Capital Improvements Program. Phase 1 was completed in 2021 and included construction of a shared use path between Hyland Drive and Tara Hill Drive.
Once complete, the project will provide an important safety connection to nearby schools and improve pedestrian connectivity along the east side of Avery Road.
Construction may result in temporary lane restrictions, shoulder closures and pedestrian access impacts along Avery Road. Access to nearby properties will be maintained during construction.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the work zone, watch for construction crews and equipment and allow extra travel time.
Utility Improvements
In addition to sidewalk construction, the project includes the final sanitary sewer extension needed to complete utility extensions for Area 14. Properties at 7050, 7070, 7100 and 7136 Avery Road were previously identified in the City’s Public Water and Sanitary Sewer Extension Policy as an area in need of sanitary sewer service. Sanitary sewer construction to 7100 and 7136 Avery Road was completed in 2017.
The current extension, Area 14B, will complete the remaining upstream sanitary sewer extension for the overall Area 14. The City coordinated the design of the sanitary sewer work with the Avery Road Sidewalk Connections Project because the construction limits for both efforts largely overlap.
Timeline
The construction bid from J & J Schlaegel, Inc. was accepted by Dublin City Council on April 13, 2026. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2026.
