City of Dublin Designated “SolSmart Bronze” for Solar Energy Leadership

(Dublin, Ohio) — The City of Dublin received a bronze designation from the national SolSmart program for encouraging the growth of clean, affordable solar energy at the local level, and reducing local barriers to solar energy growth. SolSmart designation recognizes cities, towns, counties and regional organizations as national solar energy leaders.

Advocating renewable energy is an intentional objective of the City of Dublin. The City’s solar energy regulations promote sustainable environmental practices and stewardship, balanced with the high-quality development standards that define the character of the community.

As a SolSmart Bronze designee, Dublin uses nationally recognized best practices to advance solar market growth. In 2023, Dublin City Council adopted zoning code regulations pertaining to the use of solar energy, including standards regarding location, materials and aesthetics for residential and non-residential applications. The standards were further refined in December 2023 to allow more flexibility.

“The City of Dublin is a model for sustainable design and we’re proud to be recognized as a solar-friendly community by making it faster, easier and more affordable for residents and businesses to use renewable solar energy,” says Director of Community Planning & Development Jenny Rauch. “Our solar webpage provides a step-by-step guideline, checklist and resources to accelerate the application and review process for those interested in utilizing solar energy.”
