Calling all gamers, the Dublin Community Recreation Center is excited to introduce its esports programming! As the first open-use esports center in Dublin, the new Respawn lounge will be a place for drop-in play, tournaments and STEAM learning. The mission of this initiative is to provide new collaborative programs and services for growth, beginning with STEAM learning experiences to broaden the technological education of youth, continuing into youth esports, high school/college esports and finally, professional esports.
In addition to DCRC-led esports activities, tournaments and programming partnered with Dublin City Schools and other esports leagues will take place in the Respawn lounge and the Talla rooms.
“We plan to work with community organizations to provide opportunities and experiences for team building and competitions,” Director of Recreation Services Tracey Gee says. “We are excited about this new addition to our programming!”
While the DCRC will be taking a phased approach to launch Respawn, you can still get involved in upcoming esports informational events.
The DCRC will be holding open houses on July 21 and 27 for gamers to learn more about Respawn and future esports programming. Tickets secure your attendance for any of the timeslots and are free of charge.
Parents and individuals interested in learning more about esports are invited to attend a discussion with Ohio State Esports Manager Dr. John Price on Wednesday, Sept. 6. from 6-7 p.m. The workshop is designed to introduce parents and attendees to the rapidly evolving world of esports while exploring the benefits of this popular activity. Tickets are required but free of charge.
The DCRC will also offer a three-day specialty camp, “Intro to Esports” Aug. 8-10 from 1-2:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the fundamental concepts and explore playing a variety of PC games. Registration is now open!
