Dublin Police Statement on Dublin Community Pool Incident

A 31-year-old man died by drowning around 2:45 a.m. Friday, June 21, at the Dublin Community Pool South. Based on Dublin Police’s initial investigation, officers believe this to be an apparent suicide.

The City of Dublin encourages people to be respectful when sharing information about suicide without giving detailed information about the death to the community. This can be a critical time for other people with suicidal ideation.

If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, reach out for support. Call 911 to contact the Dublin Police if in crisis. You can also call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which provides 24/7 confidential support for people in distress as well as prevention and crisis resources. You will be connected with a trained counselor through this service.

The Dublin Community Pool South is closed June 21. Out of an abundance of caution, the pool will reopen on June 23.
