U.S. 33-S.R. 161-Post Road Interchange Improvements

Work is underway on the U.S. 33/S.R. 161/Post Road interchange improvements! The project is expected to be completed in spring 2025. Check ODOT’s website for the latest information.

Work Status

  • Reconstruction/widening of Post Road/S.R. 161

Traffic Impact

  • The U.S. 33/S.R. 161/Post Road Interchange project entered construction phase 3 on Nov. 9, 2023.
  • Post Road/S.R. 161 is reduced to one lane in both directions underneath U.S. 33 until June 2025.
  • The Post Road/S.R. 161 westbound ramp to U.S. 33 eastbound is closed through Spring 2024.
    • Traffic will need to use the Eiterman Road roundabout to access the U.S. 33 eastbound ramp.
  • The new alignment of the U.S. 33 eastbound ramp to Post Road/S.R. 161 eastbound has opened. Traffic will permanently use the Eiterman Road roundabout to access Post Road/S.R. 161 eastbound.
  • The Post Road & Hyland-Croy intersection will be restricted to a right-in, right-out intersection until late 2024.
  • The Post Road & Post Preserve intersection is permanently a right-in, right-out intersection.
  • Nightly closure of Post Road/S.R. 161 underneath U.S. 33 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. will continue through Friday, May 31, to allow installation of a bridge beam on the U.S. 33 overpass. Detours will be posted.

This rural interchange is at the center of substantial local and regional economic development, and the current configuration does not meet the diverse needs of this thriving area. A new design is being developed to address capacity and safety concerns.

These improvements are possible thanks to significant investments and project development assistance from the City of Dublin, Union County, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC).

*This project is led by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Questions concerning project development can be addressed to Matthew McGuire, ODOT D6 PIO, at 740.833.8222 or Matthew.McGuire@dot.ohio.gov. Details of this project can also be found on the ODOT webpage.
