The Sherm Sheldon Fishing Derby kicks off Independence Day at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 4, at the Avery Pond (7401 Avery Road). Named after a former City manager, this event has prizes based on age and length of fish caught. Parking is available near the tennis courts at Avery Park.
