(Dublin, OH) The City of Dublin, Ohio Fleet Management Division has added four more snowplows that run on compressed natural gas (CNG). A grant from the Ohio EPA helped fund the Freightliner Snowplows, which are equipped with Cummings Westport near-zero emissions natural gas engines.
“These units will bring Dublin’s total number of CNG Vehicles to 67,” said John Hyatt, Interim Fleet Director for the City of Dublin. “Currently in our fleet we have a total of 22 snowplows. We will continue to replace our older fleet of snowplows with the CNG trucks as we can,” Hyatt said.
The City first started its conversion to CNG in the fall of 2011 with the construction of the City’s CNG fueling station, which was completed in June 2012.
Through a partnership with IGS Energy of Dublin, the City also sells CNG to the public. Since the station was opened, Dublin has dispensed 1,352,944.91 GGE’s of natural gas.
CNG and other cleaner fuels help improve air quality by reducing diesel emissions.
