For five nights only, Dublin Irish Days presented by the Dublin Irish Festival announces the performance of “The Irish… and How they Got that Way,” produced by the Abbey Theater of Dublin on the Coffman Amphitheater stage in Coffman Park, 5200 Emerald Pkwy.
An Off-Broadway musical written by Frank McCourt features an eclectic mix of Irish music ranging from the traditional “Danny Boy” to U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” An irreverent but affectionate history of the Irish in America that mingles laughter and sentiment in a tapestry of classical songs and stories. The production encapsulates the most tumultuous times of the past century with vibrant humor and irony.
The show runs from Aug. 4 through 8, each night beginning at 7 p.m. presented by Giant Eagle Market District. Theater tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. July 6. Tickets will be sold as tables of four for $60 and are non-refundable. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance online. The musical is set in a pub and in order to immerse the audience into the story, a cash bar will be available.
“Although the Dublin Irish Festival will look a little different this year, we are proud to bring this theatrical production to audiences looking to celebrate Irish culture and roots,” said Abbey Theater of Dublin Theater Supervisor Joe Bishara. “This musical will get everyone in the Irish spirit through song, dance and storytelling.”
The standout, Central Ohio-based actors who makes up the musical’s ensemble cast includes Bill Hafner, Bradley Johnson, Jarrod Turnbull, Krista Pojman and Rachel Lucille.
In order to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, items not permitted include alcohol not purchased at the venue, glass bottles, chairs, pets, drones, fireworks, peddling or soliciting and the distribution of promotional items inside grounds.
