In 2018, Franklin County was awarded grant funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as part of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Grant Program to prepare communities for these attacks. The grants were distributed to over 30 cities across the country to enhance resilience and build capacity at the local level. Franklin County received $829,725 to test and validate Franklin County’s response to an unfolding CCTA situation across the county.
Funding was used to develop and implement effective, sustainable, and regional approaches for enhancing preparedness for CCTAs which include the following components: capability gaps, developing and/or updating plans, training to implement plans and procedures, and conducting comprehensive exercises to validate capabilities.
