Dublin City Council has approved an economic development agreement with Nurx, a San Francisco-based telemedicine company that is redefining how patients access healthcare.
Founded in 2016, Nurx’s digital platform allows patients to receive medical consultations online and, when medically appropriate, receive prescriptions from licensed medical providers. This end-to-end digital medical experience is intended to provide lower costs to patients, better recommendations, faster response times and improve overall patient outcomes and greater access to medical care.
To meet the needs of its growing business, Nurx will be leasing a 6,000 – 15,000 SF facility located in Dublin in order to create a closed-door (non-retail) pharmacy that will fill electronically prescribed prescriptions generated for patients through Nurx’s digital platform.
“Recently ranked as one of the top 100 fastest growing U.S. startups by CNBC, Nurx has raised over $90 million in venture capital funding,” says Director of Economic Development, Colleen Gilger. “Dublin is excited to welcome the new face of telemedicine, supporting patients as they communicate with a healthcare provider through innovative technologies.”
The City has agreed to enter a four-year, 15% payroll performance withholding incentive of up to $35,090. This performance incentive is contingent upon Nurx providing documentation of an executed three-year initial lease of a facility within Dublin by Feb. 1, 2022 and occupying that facility by March 1, 2022. Nurx will also execute a five-year lease at another site within Dublin. In total, the company is required to make an eight-year space commitment, with the payroll performance withholding incentive beginning in 2025.
“The Region’s favorable business environment stood out to us during our search for a second site location, and we are looking forward to joining the expansive network of health tech companies in Dublin and the Columbus Region,” said Nurx CEO Varsha Rao. “We appreciate JobsOhio’s assistance during our site selection process, which helped streamline the decision for our senior leadership.”
This project is expected to create 43 new jobs in Dublin and will bring approximately $336,000 in net withholdings through 2028.
Council approved the EDA after a second reading at its meeting on December 6, 2021.
