(Dublin, Ohio) — The City of Dublin is announcing its plans for the upcoming summer event season. Although there are still many uncertainties that remain due to the pandemic and events will look different, there are still plenty of opportunities for people to celebrate this summer.
“We are excited about hosting events in person this summer,” says City of Dublin Community Events Director Alison LeRoy. “While things will not be exactly the same as in years past, we are working hard to keep our community safe, while giving people the opportunity to get out and have fun.”
Here is a look at the 2021 summer events schedule.
Memorial Day
Monday, May 31, the City of Dublin will honor veterans who lost their lives in service to our country. In cooperation with the Wesley G. Davids American Legion Post 800, a virtual event will be presented. The picnic, as well as the in-person procession and ceremony, that are typically held will not take place this year.
Independence Day
Independence Day will be celebrated Saturday, July 3. The City plans to host a fireworks display as well as two physically distanced concerts in Coffman Park and at Coffman High School grounds.
The parade will either be similar to last year’s parade through Dublin neighborhoods, the St. Patrick’s Day Reverse Parade, which took place on March 13, 2021, or it could look like the traditional parade in Historic Dublin depending on current COVID-19 safety guidelines at the time of the event. Neighborhood bike brigades and fishing derbies, will all be part of the festivities. Schedule and ticket sale information will be announced at a later date.
Dublin Irish Festival
While there will not be a full Festival in Coffman Park this summer, there will be city-wide celebrations of all things Irish during Dublin Irish Days, presented by the Dublin Irish Festival, from Aug. 5 to 8. With an innovative format, Dublin Irish Days will celebrate the traditions of the Festival, while prioritizing the health and safety of participants.
The events will kick off with the Dublin Irish Festival 5K and Dub Crawl on Thursday, Aug. 5, in Downtown Dublin. Coffman Park will host live concerts featuring some of the best Irish musicians touring the country, and the play “The Irish and How They Got That Way” will be presented at the Coffman Park Amphitheater.
Downtown Dublin will be full of Irish activities throughout the weekend. The Darby Street Marketplace will feature Festival merchandise vendors and families can enjoy the Wee Folk area at Riverside Crossing Park. Festival musicians and dancers will pop up throughout downtown, and shops and restaurants will offer Irish specials.

In addition to these signature events, the City of Dublin anticipates kicking off the DORA pilot programs in May. Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORAs) will be open in Historic Dublin and Bridge Park on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 to 10 p.m. Full details about the pilot programs can be found at DublinOhioUSA.gov/DORA.
