Dublin City Council approved a Development and Real Estate Purchase Agreement that will transfer 7.443 acres to The Chiller, LLC. The Chiller will now own the land (located at 7001 Dublin Park Drive) on which the company has been operating its ice facility for 25 years.
This agreement would allow the Dublin Chiller to not only continue to operate, but to potentially expand, without any additional operational or financial commitments from the City.
The Dublin Chiller was built in 1993 through a public-private partnership between Central Ohio Ice Rinks (COIR) and the City of Dublin. The City provided 7.443 acres of land and COIR funded, developed and has operated the ice facility for 25 years. The original agreement expired in September 2018. At that time, Dublin City Council voted to extend the lease one year to explore and define the terms and conditions necessary to enable the facility to continue operation and provide its important recreational programming to the community.
Director of Development Donna Goss said the agreement with The Dublin Chiller is win for the City, the Chiller and the community as a whole, particularly the hockey community and Dublin City Schools. Goss said the public-private partnership structure that has been in place for more than 25 years is no longer practical. This agreement will allow The Chiller to renovate, expand and bring more ice opportunities to the community without any additional financial commitments from the City of Dublin.
