(DUBLIN, Ohio) From June 15 to June 17, the Dublin Police Department received several calls (20) concerning thefts from vehicles and in one case, the theft of a motor vehicle during the overnight hours. In about half of these cases, the crimes occurred after a thief entered an unlocked vehicle. In some cases, windows were broken to gain entry.
Dublin Police would like to remind residents to:
- Remove valuables including garage door openers from your vehicle.
- Lock your vehicle doors and windows.
- Never leave your keys or key fob with your vehicle.
- Call the Dublin Police immediately at 614.889.1112 if you witness a crime or something suspicious.
“Despite this recent spike in thefts, we have seen a significant reduction in reported thefts from vehicles in the city (44% reduction as of May 31),” says Dublin Police Chief Heinz von Eckartsberg. “Please rest assured that tracking and preventing property crimes remains a high priority for the Dublin Police Department.”
The Chief credits much of that reduction to crime prevention efforts by Dublin residents. If you would like more information on theft reduction in your neighborhood or at your business, schedule a “Meet the Police” meeting. Fill out the form at:
