(Dublin, Ohio) – With an average attendance of over 100,000 guests per year at the Dublin Irish Festival, Dublin Police want to remind visitors how they can help prevent thefts from vehicles.
The Dublin Irish Festival offers free public parking around the city and provides shuttle services to and from local hotels. Before leaving your car at these areas, here are a few reminders on how to protect your valuables from potential thieves:
- Remove or hide valuables from plain sight
- Lock all doors
- Park in a well-lit area
- Call the Dublin Police Department immediately if you witness a crime or something suspicious.
“The Dublin Irish Festival is a fantastic three day event that we want people to enjoy safely,” said Police Chief Justin Paez. “Before you come, please check the city’s website for the list of items which are not permitted into the festival and leave all other valuables at home. It only takes seconds for someone to break into a vehicle and steal property left unattended.”
If you see a car break-in or other emergencies in progress, call 911. Provide the dispatcher with as much information as possible, such as:
- Location – Provide an address, block number, or specific location in a parking lot.
- Description of the suspect – Provide as much information as you can, e.g. sex, race, age, height, weight, hair color and length, color and length of facial hair, color and style of clothing and/or piercings.
- Direction – If the suspect flees, give the direction of travel.
The Dublin Irish Festival is the largest three-day Irish Festival in the world and has over 7 stages, 65 acts and more than 535 performers.
