(Dublin, Ohio) — The City of Dublin’s IT department has been alerted of a phishing email claiming to be from a Dublin City Council secretary asking for businesses’ participation in an event. The email falsely offers a “key to the city” for a business’s outstanding achievement in technology. The is a scam.
The IT department is working with the domain registrar and email provider to take down the domain.
What to do if you receive a similar email:
- Delete any email from “Shannon Mark” or smark@dublincitycouncil.org. This is a fake name; no such person works for Dublin City Council.
- Do not click on any links provided.
- Do not respond or provide personal information to the sender.
