The Dublin Police Department hosted its annual Police Memorial Service on Friday, May 12 at the Dublin Justice Center. The event recognized officers from local law enforcement agencies who were killed in the line of duty.
Chief Heinz von Eckartsberg opened his remarks with a moment of silence for Kirkersville Police Chief Steven DiSario, who was killed in an ambush shooting while on duty earlier that same morning.
Hilliard Police Chief Robert Fisher served as the guest speaker for this year’s event. He spoke about the pain of losing one of his officers, Sean Johnson, in an on-duty motorcycle training accident in 2016.
Dublin’s event was part of National Police Week, which is Monday, May 15 through Sunday, May 21, 2017.
