The Business District Unit, which includes a Dublin Police sergeant and two officers, emphasizes addressing safety issues and concerns within the city’s business districts, such as the Bridge Park Business District. The unit follows the Dublin Police philosophy of having officers in the right places at the right times for the right reasons.
The unit focuses on several key areas of the city’s densely populated areas.
BDU officers use proven law enforcement approaches, such as community-oriented policing, problem-oriented policing, and the SARA model (Scanning, Analysis, Response, Assessment).
BDU officers will be present in the city’s business districts from Wednesdays through Sundays. As always, Dublin Police officers will respond to any issue 24/7 throughout the city.
Officers in the Business District Unit actively engage with those who live, work or visit Dublin’s mixed-use urban spaces. They maintain open lines of communication, seeking feedback, listening to concerns, and collaborating with the community to keep the area safe and enjoyable.
The unit is available to connect with residents, visitors and businesses in person, by phone or via email to discuss experiences, ideas or concerns.
The BDU is led by Sergeant Josh Kirby, Officer Jared Dobney and Officer Josh Weber

In order to support faster response and better tracking of requests, the City of Dublin uses JustFOIA to collect, respond to and manage public information requests.
JustFOIA is a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) online application that helps streamline the open records request process for the community and improve efficiencies in getting requested information quickly and accurately.
The application lets community members submit requests for all city records, including police reports. Commonly requested information includes accident reports, copies of resolutions and body-camera video.
