(Dublin, Ohio) —The Dublin Police Department is aware of a situation involving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (HSI) that occurred within the City of Dublin on Friday, Dec. 19, at the intersection of Hard Road and Emerald Parkway.
Dublin Police were not notified of this incident by HSI nor provided any information prior to its occurrence. Dublin Police officers responded after receiving a call for assistance from a witness to the traffic stop. Upon arrival, we learned the incident began when HSI conducted a traffic stop, which involved a subsequent interaction with another individual. Our officers observed the second individual being detained by HSI agents; however, to our knowledge, all parties were released. Dublin Police officers did not participate in or take any enforcement or other action related to the incident.
The City of Dublin does not conduct or direct federal immigration enforcement activities. Local law enforcement remains focused on community safety, crime prevention and fostering trust with residents. While the Dublin Police Department cannot speak on behalf of federal agencies, we are committed to providing fair, respectful and professional treatment to all individuals.
