Dublin is home to a healthy population of red-tailed hawks. You’ve probably noticed their noisy screeches in large, mature trees. They’re our largest diurnal raptors or birds of prey, hunting everything from mice to squirrels to snakes. They are distinctively marked by their reddish brown tails and dark band of color across their belly.
The City of Dublin has partnered with Ohio Wildlife Center since 2001, contracting with the organization to provide wildlife mitigation and educational services for the community. That means City staff, residents and businesses can call the non-profit organization’s SCRAM! Wildlife Control line to report sick, injured or threatening wild animals on public or private property. Recently they rehabilitated and released an injured red-tailed hawk at Wyndham Park in Dublin, which can be seen in the video.
