Be sure that you are thoroughly reading all acknowledgements before signing and that each return is signed in all required locations. Failure to sign your return in all the required locations may cause a delay in the processing of your return.
Per Ohio H.B.110: Beginning January 1, 2021, any non-resident individual working from home or any location other than their Dublin principal place of work may be eligible for a refund of 2021 Dublin tax withheld by their employer; this applies ONLY to tax year 2021.
Non-Residents Requesting a Refund:
- All Work-From Home (entire year) Refund Requests must use our new form 2021 Non-Resident Individual Work From Home (Entire year) Refund Request (Form WFH-1040)
- An employer certification is no longer required for refund requests for non-residents
- As previously stated above, all acknowledgements on your return MUST be signed in order for us to process any refund.
- Please note, in accordance with ORC 718.13, any refund issued by the City of Dublin will be disclosed to your taxing jurisdiction of residency.

Residents Requesting a Refund from Other Cities:
- All Dublin residents working from home that had local taxes withheld to their Principal Place of Work (PPW) city may be able to get a refund from that taxing jurisdiction.
- A resident that receives a refund from another taxing jurisdiction will not receive credit for local taxes paid on their DUBLIN INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX RETURN FOR RESIDENTS ONLY (DIR-1040) form.
- Any refund received from another taxing jurisdiction will need to be paid to Dublin within thirty days after receiving their refund check

Around two thirds of residents still opt for traditional filing which amounts to an estimated 100,000 sheets of paper annually. The City of Dublin is encouraging residents to skip the printing, envelopes, stamps and checks by, instead, filing and paying your taxes online using our E-File tool.
