The new Columbus Metropolitan Library Dublin Branch is now open.
The former Dublin Branch, built in 1980 and renovated in 1990, was one of the most heavily used branches in CML’s 23-location system. The new three-level Dublin Branch, being built on the same site, will double the size of the former branch from roughly 20,100 square feet to approximately 41,000 square feet.
Parking Garage Now Open
The new downtown Dublin parking garage opened April 12, 2019. The garage adds 550 spaces, with 200 of those designated for library patrons during operating hours and otherwise available to the general public. This will significantly improve parking options, making it more convenient for people to visit our Historic District businesses and other downtown Dublin destinations. There are also designated spots for electric vehicles and bicycles.
Please check the CML site for the most up-to-date information. The regular Dublin branch hours are:
- Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Pedestrian/Bicycle Bridge Progress
Crews have completed cable installation for the pedestrian/bicycle bridge. There are 43 total cables including one tie-down cable, two main suspension cables, two restrainer cables and 38 hanger cables. The cables were fabricated in Italy (one of only three companies in the world that produces the type of suspension cables needed for our unique “S” curve bridge). Then, the cables were extensively tested in Germany, before being shipped to the United States.
This fall, crews will install hand rails and lighting, paint the steel beams and restore the site. The bridge is expected to open by the end of 2019, but work is weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
