Dublin Announces CAREavan Through the Community

(Dublin, OH) Instead of the City’s traditional “Experience Public Works Day” event, which had been scheduled for May 16, Dublin will take its trucks, plows, other equipment and various essential staff members on the road for the first-ever Dublin CAREavan.

The CAREavan will feature several vehicles including a Dublin snowplow, police cruiser, Dublin City School bus, and a Washington Twp. Fire Truck. It will travel through different Dublin neighborhoods each night, Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. during Public Works Week, which is May 17-23. Scroll down for routes.

Our employees would love to see any messages of support from our residents, so please decorate your driveway or sidewalk with chalk, hold signs, display flags or just show up with a wave and a smile. We encourage you to use our hashtag #DublinCares on your signs, sidewalk chalk designs and social media posts. We encourage residents to share their pictures of the CAREavan on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

The CAREavan will travel rain or shine. All participants will remain inside their vehicles at all times.

The 2020 Experience Public Works Day was canceled in accordance with State of Ohio and Franklin County Public Health directives.

“We are disappointed that we had to cancel our annual Experience Public Works day event, but we think the Dublin CAREavan will add a fun twist with our staff taking City plows, cruisers and other equipment into the neighborhoods,” says Megan O’Callaghan, Deputy City Manager/Chief Operating Officer. “This event is a safe alternative that gives us the chance to celebrate Public Works Week and to connect with residents in a responsible way while maintaining physical distance.”

The City hopes to offer a shredding event sometime later this year as health guidelines allow. E-cycling is available at the Service Center, located at 6555 Shier Rings Road, during normal business hours, Mon. – Fri., 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Please, in the spirit of physical distancing and community health, do not encourage neighborhood gatherings or viewing parties. The idea is for each family and resident to enjoy the procession from their own porches, driveways or front yards. If the CAREavan is not coming directly by your house and you would like to watch from a nearby sidewalk, please stay at least six feet away from others. Dublin Police will be participating in the CAREavan and have been directed by the Franklin County Health Department to enforce physical distancing requirements. Let’s keep this a fun and safe event for everyone. Remember, we’re all in this together!
